Lifestyle Class Week #4

What a crazy week!  We have been preparing for Hurricane Irene here and I've been trying to fit in photo shoots in between!  I am posting these early just in case we lose power.  I know I needed to fine tune some of the photos during the shoots but with an impatient teenager that isn't always easy!  :)

Thematic and Conceptual Shooting:  My daughter and I went blueberry/raspberry picking...one of our must-do's every summer! I am finding that the rule to just post one photo is so hard to follow!

I included the picture below just for fun!

Self-Portrait:  I decided to use a photo taken two weeks ago for my self-portrait. We had gone to Maine to visit Acadia National Park.  One of the best spots to stop there is at Jordan Pond House where you can have tea and popovers with strawberry jam as you enjoy the beautiful view of Jordan Pond while you dine outdoors!

It has been a great class Brooke!  Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!  I've enjoyed and been inspired by everyone's work!

More Images for Week #3

These are some other images I had taken for the outdoor/contrast shoot!  I had tried different points of view and came up with a few good ones...others I tried were a framing shot but I did not include them as they didn't turn out as I had hoped!

Lifestyle Class Week #3

Conceptual Contrast:
I chose to photograph my daughter, who is an aspiring artist, outside in our yard.  I was hoping to have moved her art table outside but we had to settle for a chair and a sketch pad!  One of the other pictures was taken with her favorite thing in hand....her paintbrushes!  She is going to be a senior this year and we had a fun time taking pictures on the swings at school!

The Decisive Moment:
This was a fun moment caught while taking some pictures of my daughter for a practice "senior photo shoot"!
I just liked the expression that I was able to capture.

Lifestyle Class Week #2

Weather and time have not been cooperating this week so I have included shots as best I could!  My cat, Misty, was a moving target so she was a bit difficult to shoot from different angles when her "kitty curiosity" set in!  I was ready for a bit of "tea time" after trying to find the perfect light on a very rainy day!

Lifestyle Class: Week #1

Our assignment for this first week was to work with the "character" aspects of storytelling.  I chose to photograph my husband, being the crazy "character" that he is and chose the details of his favorite pastime, golf.  The conflict I chose to photograph was his quest to line up the putt to get the ball in the hole....what concentration indeed! :)
